Ione Albertha Broomes, also known as “Onie” of Broomefield #1, St. Lucy entered peacefully into rest at age 81.

Mother of George “Sam” Broomes (U.W.I. – Halls), Valerie Broomes (U.W.I. – Maintenance), Charlotte and Richard Broomes. Grandmother of Dwayne and Jermaine Broome, Shakira, Akellee, Krystal and Sarah Broomes.  Great-Grandmother of Tavion Broomes, Zane, Zana and Zade Broome.  Sister of Mildred Yearwood, Elise Griffith, Annette Alleyne, Albert and Charles Broomes.  Aunt of Stephen Corbin, Kirtson Alleyne, Yvette Griffith, Marian and Carl Brome, Yvonne and Adrian Broomes and 20 others.  Great-Aunt of many.  Great-Great Aunt of many.  Mother-in-law of Monica Broomes and Selwyn Adams.  Relative of the Broomes and Mahon families. Friend of Virene Hinds, Marva Broome, Ianthia Martindale, Glendine Cumberbatch and many others.

The funeral of the late Ione Albertha Broomes leaves Earl’s Funeral Home, Half Moon Fort, St. Lucy, on Thursday, January 13th at 1:00 p.m. for St. Lucy’s Parish Church, Near Nestfield, St. Lucy where relatives and friends are asked to meet for the Service of Thanksgiving and the interment at 3:00 p.m.  The organist is kindly asked to attend.

Relatives and friends can visit in the chapel of Earl’s Funeral Home, Half Moon Fort, St. Lucy to reflect the memories of Ione Albertha Broomes from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday.

Floral tributes may be sent to Earl’s Funeral Home no later than 12:30 p.m. on Thursday. 

All COVID-19 protocols will be in effect, with a maximum of 25 persons allowed to be in attendance.
