“A light from our household is dimmed. A voice we love is stilled …”

Muriel Ianthe Best, affectionately known as Darkie of 6th Avenue West Terrace Gardens, St. James and formerly of Bawden, St. Andrew entered peacefully into rest at age 90 on Sunday July 6th, 2025.

Faithful Member of Beulah Land Pentecostal Church.

Daughter of the late Reginald and Viola Best.

Mother of Caroline Melveta, Elridge, Lucille Isilma, Ena Cyrillene (Toronto) and Grantley (USA).

Grandmother of Patranelle, Dwayne and Dorian Best, Alitia Quintyne, Ryan and Dr. Rhea Johnson, Kevin, Stacy and Christina (USA).

Great-Grandmother of eight.  

Aunt of Shirley Bennet, Joan Clarke, Keisha Best-Alleyne, Evet King and Angela Forde (UK), Pauline Straker and Jenny Maynard (USA), Angela Roachford and many others.

Mother-in-law of Almaida Best, Jennifer Best and Gordon Vaughan.

Relative of the Best and Knight families.

Friend of Rita Ramsay, Erla Small, Cynthia Maynard, Keith Best, Maggie Maynard and Vivian Best (UK).

The funeral of the late Muriel Ianthe Best leaves Earl’s Funeral Home, Half Moon Fort, St. Lucy on Wednesday July 23rd, 2025 at 1:00 p.m. for St. Andrew’s Parish Church, Walkers, St. Andrew where relatives and friends are asked to meet for the Service of Thanksgiving and the interment at 3:00 p.m.

The organist and choir are kindly asked to attend.
